Ever wondered where did the ‘b’ go? There are many brands that have quirked up their names for uniqueness and better advertisement strategies, ‘Thums-Up’ is one of them. But why did they do it? There are various hypotheses for the same!
A hypothesis was that the ‘Thums-Up’ name and logo are kept after this mountain in Maharashtra! Well, maybe but it doesn’t explain the missing “B”-oint here!
Since long a major hypothesis that has revolved around was that on a 200ML bottle, six letters i.e. ‘thumbs’ looked camped or congested, hence without changing the pronunciation, it was very likely to drop a ‘b’! Woah, that could be a reason but is it true?
So, what’s the real reason? Well, sorry to burst your bubble but it’s not as quirky as you might have thought!
ThumsUp was named so, just to maintain the uniqueness of the name, and to look better in advertisements and the ‘b’ was dropped just like that, as told by Ramesh Chauhan, the creator of Thums Up.
